Episode 14: Dougal McNeill and Pip Adam talk about Writing the 1926 General Strike: Literature, Culture, Politics by Charles Ferrall and Dougal McNeill

It was a distinct privilege to speak with Dougal on the occasion of the launch of the book he has written with Charles Ferrall, Writing the 1926 General Strike: Literature, Culture, Politics

The launch was held on the anniversary of unionist Ernie Abbott’s death at Trades Hall and was preceded by a minutes silence in his memory. Being in Trades Hall on that day and that hour was an extremely moving experience for me.

The launch also served as a fund-raiser for the Living Wage at Vic Campaign, which you can read more about and support here

Right at the end of our talk Dougal recommends Lewis Grassic Gibbons trilogy A Scots Quiar. Which is available on Project Gutenberg Australia I’ve started reading it and it really is one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I’ve read.
